In ancient Egypt, the colour green was associated with death and the power of resurrection, as well as new life and fertility. The Egyptians believed the afterlife contained an eternal paradise which resembled their lives but with no pain or suffering, and referred to this place as the ‘Field of Malachite’. In this work, the BCAA ‘tree of life’ honours the importance of the colour green to the chroma of human knowledge. The malachite in this work is from Arizona, southwestern United States.
